+1 for Hybrid coolers. I use this solution and very happy with it. You just have to find room in your case to fit the 4 radiators.
By the way, I too have a question, regarding PCI lanes:
My 4 gpu's currently run at 4x instead of 8x or 16x (because I use an intel 6700K which only manages 16 PCI-E ...

Re: Octane build
Hello Jarratt!
I also come from the Mac universe and switched to PC a few years ago because of Octane. (And because old macpro's CPU's are really old now)
I also use AE while rendering in c4d/Octane.
Here are few remarks from my experience if that may help you :

Re: EVGA Hyrbid Kit Size?
Hello!
From my experience with EVGA, it depends if you buy a hybrid kit to plug onto your card, or if you buy a Hybrid card from the get go:
- the kit itself does not change the form factor of the card, so, the shroud they provide with the kit is the exact same size as the original one. (But in ...

Re: First PC Build for Octane Animations + Simulations
About your CPU choice, AfterEffects likes Ghz more than cpu cores. So if you intend to use your CPU not for 3d rendering but for everything else, I think a 6700K @4ghz (but only 4 cores) is more suitable.

Re: PSD manager
Hello, I'm using cinema4d but it should work in 3D max as well :
- set a layer id using the Octane Tag (ranges from 1-8) on each object you want a matte from
- in the render settings, in the "render layer mask" tab, check the id's you set earlier (no need to render layers per se, so you can leave ...

Re: OctaneRender cloud solution for images "not anytime soon"?
I think that tiled rendering would solve your problem: splitting the final image into 9 or 16 tiles, each one considered by orc as separate frames from a 9 or 16 frames animation.
You would thus take advantage of several nodes rendering simultaneously each tile.
I think you can do that right of ...

Re: VR viewer thoughts / wishes
Great news, I'm currently working on a 360 movie project for a client and one of his complaints is precisely the lack of personalization of the interface.
By the way, is it possible to access ORC right now? I read in an older post that it was working if you paid for a subscription fee, but didn't ...

Wow, incredible. Maybe Apple is going to announce a new Mac Pro following amd's announcement for external gpu's…??
I'm just afraid Nvidia's respond will be : "let's kill all Otoy guys at sight :D"

Congrats and a thousand thanx to Otoy and Aoktar!
I also can testify for how much Octane changed my job and helped me to improve the level of my works.
