Re: Roughness map?

This topic interested me because I too want to make specialized maps for certain things. In particular, I have heard of people who use things called "smudge","dirt" and "scratch" maps, but I have no idea what they're talking about, considering those are just nicknames that really represent the use of ...

Re: pilot g-2

Yeah the texture on the grip looks good! It definitely does the trick. It's JUST noticable, which is perfect. I think it would look a bit fake if you make the bump/normal map any more extreme. Good job!

Re: pilot g-2

This looks really good! As of right now the only thing I can really think of that you might want to do is add a feint noise to the rubber grip; sometimes those grips are a soft rubber with an almost cloth-like feel to them. I realize alot of those types of pens DO just have a slick rubber grip to ...

Re: linear workflow

I too am curious about this! This sounds alot like the workflow that the person I am interning for talks alot about. He uses Maya+Vray,2.2 gamme srgb etc etc.....and gets really good quality images. In octane however, when I render the same scene, even with linear/off camera filter and 2.2 gamma my ...

Alright so I have a decent amount of this done, but I am now to the point where I need to start buffing out the small details to really make this look real. In particular, I was wondering how do you add realistic fingerprints to something? I tried earlier by using an image for my "reflection", but I ...

Re: Lens Shift inconsistency

This is AWESOME!! Thank you so much! All this time I thought I had the newest version of the script, and then I went to the first page of the script thread and realized you have made quite a few updates since the version I had, lol. Thank you!

Re: Lens Shift inconsistency

sigh..unfortunately I am not versed in python at ALL. But I suppose I could snoop around and see what I can figure out. When you say engine.py, are you referring to the file called "octane.py"? Because I do not see an actual .py file anywhere that is actually labeled "engine.py", unless maybe I am ...

Re: Lens Shift inconsistency

In Octane, the field-of-view is always the horizontal field-of-view. I guess, in Blender it's the field-of-view of the longer axis.

It looks like you always guess well at first shot ;) . Applying simple arithmetics on the fov seems to properly do the job now.

Thanks for the advice, it'll be ...

Re: 2.5 exporter?

hm,I can't seem to get any of the exporting scripts to work. In 2.54 if I try to open the script in the text editor and run script, or if I try to "install add-on" and select the python script file nothing happens. In 2.49 (which I would rather NOT use) it DOES work, but when I try to export it says ...
