Re: Windows 10 freezing frequently (off topic)

Thank you Glimpse. I posted to see if it might be common to people running multiple GPUs on high-end machines, but apparently not . . .
Perhaps it is something about my particular machine, and not Windows, but it did coincide with the anniversary update, and the thread on the MS forum seemed to ...

Windows 10 freezing frequently (off topic)

I am curious as to whether many others on this forum have experienced a lot of random lockups of the OS in Windows 10 since the Anniversary Update a few months back.
It is happening to me a lot, sometimes dozens of times per day. I've tried a lot of things without any success. On Microsoft's site ...

Re: I have a problem with gamma

I'm guessing my problem is related. In the Max viewports, when I apply Octane materials, everything appears really bright and washed out.
I have to switch to wireframe or clay mode to be able to work with the models.
I am running the latest plugin, but have lived with this same issue with previous ...

Re: Create Octane Camera from View

Wow! Thank you! I never knew that one. I just tried it and it works great.
It makes me wonder what other shortcuts I am unaware of . . .

Re: How to project an image onto a surface

Thank you -- I don't feel so bad now :)

Documentation would be good to have. Until I upgrade Max it looks like I am at the end of the road for Octane upgrades since they are no longer supporting Max 2011.
I also see that Autodesk will be shifting to a subscription only plan next year. This will ...

Re: How to project an image onto a surface

I found the key!

1) I stripped everything out of my scene and then merged your scene into it. Even then, the projection wasn't working.
2) I went through all of the Octane Render settings and compared the two scenes. There were a few significant differences such as GI clamp set to 1,000,000.00 vs 2 ...

Re: How to project an image onto a surface

I don't get it either. In your scene the projection resolves almost instantly.
I tried importing the rig you created into my scene and it was blurry. The last time I left it for over an hour and it was still be big blur. I thought that perhaps existing lighting, etc. might be complicating things but ...

Lock Octane Vewport to View/Camera - Please!

There really needs to be an additional lock icon in the Octane Viewport that locks the viewport to a particular view or camera.

I typically need a particular camera view or perspective view to stay in the viewport while I am updating the scene settings and previewing the results in the viewport ...

Re: How to project an image onto a surface

I was able to import your projector and test it. It appears that in my particular scene getting an image to resolve looks like it will takes a very long time if at all, so I don't think this will be practical.
I think I will have to try to apply the projection in post. It won't look as real but ...

Re: graphic procedural texture generator

My first impression was that Allegorthmic is expensive ($590), but they have an indie version for $149, which I think is more reasonable for artists.

Another tool I found is NDO and 3DO:

$99 for the suite sounds good but it doesn't look like it integrates into Max. Allegorithmic ...
