Here is what I figured out. If you export to obj with the "End-of-line Characters" set to "windows (CLRF)". I am not sure exactly what this means, but I know that when I do this the models turn out perfect. Spread the word far and wide, mac rhino has an unbiased rendering engine! I am very excited ...

Hello,
Thanks for the quick response. I cannot seem to attach the larger obj file, but here is a copy of just the jacket on the stand and there appear to be similar issues (even though the jacket seems to be working more nicely, the stand is now messed up).

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had created a functional workflow for Rhino OS X. Any time I try to export to obj from rhino I end up with odd things happening in Octane (such as only every other triangle showing up or surfaces getting randomly stretched to specific points as seen in the images ...
