We have recently updated to the most recent Octane and Octane Plugin version, at least that's what i thought. The version available on the download page is still Octane_2021.1.4.3, in the forum i now also found the version Octane_2021.1.5.0 which i will try to install ...

Description: While exporting from Houdini to ORBX a segfault happens.
Crashes happen occasionally but on a regular basis.

Hi Juanjo,
we do not render several frames, we only do stills. Yet I dont have a clue how to perform what you proposed but from the logical perspective it sounds good.
But personally you dont have experience with this workflow, right?

so I have a question about best-practice for orbx-creation using the houdini-plugin for Octane.
What we do is that we have one machine running, connected to Deadline, to create orbx-files for our renderfarm in parallel (10 workers).
Deadline is calling hython which is doing his thing ...

Speaking about initialisation timing, do you think there is a way to have Octane running persistent in a houdini session? I understand that this might not be related to your plugin, however maybe you know something about that?

This is a headless machine, we only run hython-bin / hython on this machine and I cannot even test the GUI-version of Houdini as I cannot connect a screen.
The machine is quite heavy though, 64 cores, 250 gb RAM. We do not have this issue with version 1_5_1 ...
