Hey everyone,
I found a bug / limitation regarding the use of Hair Rendering via the Octane Tag and the Trim Spline Modifier capsule.
Whenever I animate the endpoint the Live Viewer does not update or gives me faulty results. I don't know if this is a limitation in the capsule system or in Octane ...

Mixing two vastly different displacement maps?
Hello everyone,
encountered a little problem, when trying to build a large landscape:
I have a height map for a mountainscape on which i tried to put another Quixel displacement for a rocky texture but it seems to mess up everything.
There is positive and negative height information in that texture ...

Re: Realflow color mixing
Hello Aoktar,
no, no, I know. It's not a Octane specific issue. But I thought maybe there might be some method or trick to overcome this in Octane.

Realflow color mixing
Hey everyone.
I'd like to imitate the way paint mixes in real world in Realflow.
In this example I mix a yellow and a blue color via a vertex map. The real world result would be a green color. Here it is a color that lies on a gradient between both RGB values. Is it possible to achieve this result ...

Multi GPU getting HOT
Hey everyone,
this is not directly related to Octane but kind of is:
I recently got a new build which I commissioned as a GPU work horse: Ryzen 5 5950X + 2x Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080
It's expectably blazing fast but gets also VERY hot when rendering. Both GPUs sit around 80 - 85°C under pressure ...

Motion Blur Artifacts on XPScatter
Hey guys,
I am using xpScatter with render instances to populate a moving mesh: a character skin.
However I get weird artifcats even though the character is barely moving / standing in T-pose.
I already tried everything out I could think of, but was not able to get rid of them when I want to keep ...

Re: Render Groups in X-Particle
Okay, color I found out myself: It seems to work via Instance Color, but I would like to apply a different material to each group with different properties in color, bump, emission, etc.
How would I achieve that?

Re: Render Groups in X-Particle
Thanks for the fast response!
Sure, I attached it. This is a simplified version of the scene of course.
I want to render both colors. How would I do that if a second emitter is not an option?

Render Groups in X-Particle
Hey guys,
is there a way to use Octane's particle rendering on Particle Groups in X-Particle?
Simple setup: One Emitter, two groups with different colors. How can I display both of them?
The Octane tag has no option for particle rendering on the groups, just the emitter itself.
Thanks!
David

Re: Reflection showing despite being turned off
My bad: The walls were actually a plane instead of having real thickness.
