and sometime you need to reload your hdri when you make a bad tweak on "matte" to make it visible again

I cannot seem to get shadows in alpha channel, I have a HDR background environment and a ground plane with diffuse material matte ticked, alphachannel & alphashadow ticked. am i missing a step? if someone can help really appreciate it as i have been searching the forum last night to no ...
