I guess the problem exist because I use one config directory for several Blender installations.

No, it work on Windows but on Linux I am still "Logged In" after closing Blender.
I run in to problems after install the new version and was blocked, had to release from my user account and this is very limited.
Only one left for me if this happen again.
I had to bother the support for the same ...

Hi, the subscription status is not released if I close Blender.
Addon setting is set to "Release Octane License After Exiting"
The server print:

Octane: ...exited
Octane: ...license released

My account show "Active" in subscriptions.
It release if I manually log out in Blender Octane server ...

I've downloaded the standalone and the server and OctaneBlender and updated the NVidia driver, but still nothing.

You can download latest in the Shop/Try area, iirc it is Blender 2.82 and Octane 2020.1.
If you have further problems it is may better to post in the Blender part of the forum, too.

Hi, my last tests on Windows was fine but I am mainly on Linux.
Is the server running in the system tray?
It is may better when you post this in the Blender Plugin area of the forum to get more attention.

It is limited to one GPU but fine for testing.

Hi, no bug, I guess you have to wait for the official Blender for Octane version for customers.
You don´t need a license for the Free one, therefor only one GPU.

When i run the Octane for Blender version none are recognized even though I activate them in the preferences of Octane.
