Re: Cinema4D version 2023.1.2-[R2] (Latest stable) 10.01.2024
Does this include RT HW acceleration for m3? If not, which version do I need or any estimate when this comes out?

Shadow Catcher not working in Octane X mac 2023 R1
There is only very very few setups that work for shadow catcher. I stayed away from environment lights but it still doesn't work. What do I need to do to get shadow catcher to work any tips please?

Video Texture Broken with Mask in C4D Octane X
Hi I'm on 2022.1.1 R6 and I suspect video textures are broken in this build.
Here is how to reproduce:
1. Use a video texture using Octane Image Texture (not c4d image texture and activate animation / calculate frames)
2. Add a mask in opacity channel using Octane Image Texture (set to alpha) and ...

Re: Shadow catcher broken on Octane X 2022.1.1 R6
Oh that's the problem then. Is there any way to make it work or is support coming by any chance?
When I only use lights, they still penetrate through the shadow catcher instead of just rendering the shadow. So the light isn't blocked. Is that intentional?

Shadow catcher broken on Octane X 2022.1.1 R6
I create a diffuse object using shadow catcher, upon activating shadow catcher it behaves like an invisible object instead of catching the shadows and letting light pass through. This messes up the lighting setup.
I also turned on Affect Alpha in the render settings but no luck. What changed?

Stack Materials support
I can see how quickly stack materials in Red Shift became a game changer for artists and vfx built in C4D. Will we see support for stackable materials in Octane as well?

Re: Proper way to use motion blur
It's a rabbit hole, with motion blur the vdb's stop to align with the geometry too. Let me know if you got my message I dm'd you.

Re: Proper way to use motion blur
What I mean with on/off is turning on and off viewport visibility. Could you confirm, that when you have a vdb smoke object moving at fast pace, and you turn on AOV motion vectors, that the VDB will look EXACTLY the same as if AOV vectors were off?

Re: Proper way to use motion blur
I consider motion blur to be too unstable when combined with vdb's and camera tracking. I understand it must be a super hard problem to solve, but if passes even start to act funny it becomes very problematic, unfortunately.
