Re: Options to get a scene into Maya 2012

It seems exocortex or compiling the alembic source code yourself are really the only options, should anyone come across this later.

Re: Options to get a scene into Maya 2012

Anybody?

The question again is, what types of files can Octane understand that can contain a camera?

If the answer is alembic and nothing then I'd like to know that as well. The plugin doesn't seem to be an option since I it never asked which version and I found it in a maya 2016 folder that it ...

Options to get a scene into Maya 2012

I got my octane license a long time ago and haven't been around in a while. But I just upgraded my graphics card and octane license and have a project I'd like to push through octane if possible.

The issue is that I'm on maya 2012, and won't be upgrading it for this project. I tried the plugin but ...

Re: can't get octane to render with maya

I had that and figured out a way to make it work, my thread is right above yours. I'm not sure what causes it, but if worked fine if i put the images folder on the desktop. Don't know why that would matter, but there it is.

Re: octane2maya, crashes maya, octane doesn't open

This is very strange. I realized that octane and maya weren't crashing, octane was just finishing the frame really quickly and then closing, and maya is 'Rendering,' (what its rendering I still am not sure), but maya was failing to advance to the next frame and was hence "freezing," but really I ...

octane2maya, crashes maya, octane doesn't open

When I use the animation script, it exports the .obj, then octane starts, it says voxelizing, etc. then octane closes freezes. The .obj that is created is fine, but the animation script doesn't seem to work at all. It does this no matter the scene I am running, I tried it with just a sphere and a ...

Re: My feature film is coming out.

Sure isn't! It was shot on a canon xl-2, not known for its low light performance. But did an admirable job for the most part.

My feature film is coming out.

Hello,

In addition to being an Octane enthusiast I am also a director, and my first ever feature film is getting it's premiere this December. I'm sure most of you don't live around the Minneapolis, MN area (though if you do you should come for sure), but I thought I'd just post it here for kicks ...

As for the shadows, that's sort of all built into the renderer. The shadow is there, it's just quite long, so you can't see much of it I think.

You're right about the texture on the oranges. I turned down the normal bump, and increased the roughness to make them seem ...
