Duh, face-palm. Figured it out myself. Simple. Just pull the geometry out of its object into another object , create the curves there, and set the object with the curves to render as curves/fur.

I have a mesh in which I want to put some curves (working in Houdini) and, of course Octane won't render the curves unless I select 'Render as curves/fur' in the Octane parameters at the object level. Hmm so this usually shouldn't be much of an issue, but it matters if you apply the material before or after packing it for it to be correctly recognized. I'm pretty sure for packed instances you have to apply the material before packing.

When I bind a float attribute on a set of packed instance to a Texture Instance Color node in a material I find it doesn't work if I declare the material in a Material SOP node but does work if I declare the material in the Material field of the Render tab in the Object's parameters. Jittered Color Correction Not Working on Packed Instances?

I'm experimenting with a simple scene and trying to get the Jittered Color Correction node to work. I've tried *everything*. I know by manually changing the seed value I can get colors to change but for all the copies.

I have attached the scene file.

I haven't been able to find any good tutorials on how to render hair/fur in Octane. I use the Houdini plugin and am on MacOS. I would really appreciate some pointers.
