Fur/Hair Rendering Tutorial

Hey All,

I haven't been able to find any good tutorials on how to render hair/fur in Octane. I use the Houdini plugin and am on MacOS. I would really appreciate some pointers.

Yeah, I think the issue is that most of a lights contribution goes into the "shadow" ray.
I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but it seems this is how light rays function...
I will investigate this a bit more though.

Hi,
I randomly get the error pop-up (screenshot attached) that says: 'Error: Rendering failure. Octane can't render the scene. Check the available GPU memory or the scene complexity'

Hey there!
If you want to use rayswitch on your light you need to use the octane universal light!
That's the only one that has it built in.


I tinkered a bit and found that if I set really high values for a particular ray, I can see an increase in that ray's contribution. But setting to zero ...

Hi all,
I'm new to Octane, formerly Redshift, and was wondering when we might expect support for the new Houdini release, today, 21.0.440 for MacOS and Apple Silicon?

I know an exact date is likely not available but in general are we talking days, weeks, months, for support?
