Questions.
1) can I see on the Octane viewport (while I work) how much vram is being used in the specific shot - is that a good reliable benchmark to make decisions upon?
2) Does setting the OOB "window" into system ram to a higher number (on the main system I ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2025.2.1 - 16.07
The version I use is this most recent:
OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2025.2.1 - 16.07
And it's corresponding network node.
And which driver? the main system or the slaves?
On the main system, the Admin job sending one, that has 3xA5000 + 1x 3080 I'm using Studio driver 576.80 - It generally works ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2025.2.1 - 16.07
Hi Pride,
Thank you for all your help.
I was wondering, was there any change to the system requirements of the Render-Nodes (not RNDR nodes, just your average network distribution nodes) over the past release?
I used to have 2 systems - mainly as my studio's network slaves. and up till recently ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2025.2.1 - 16.07
Is the render node version from the main Octane render 2025.2.1 release page the one we should use with this one?
I'm asking since after updating to this version and updating all stations to the most recent version I'm getting far too many:
"render node crashed or was stopped via CTRL-C"

And there won't be either?neonZorglub wrote:Hi ofirgardy,ofirgardy wrote:Thanks for the update.
Is there a Demo version of this one too?
Sorry, there is no Demo for this version or the last one(15.12).
Thanks
(I'm asking since I rely on demo version for some after hours RND from home on my laptop).

Re: Phoenix FD Fire color channel
Do you know how to use the Grid RGB when rendering a liquid?
On Vray for example, you just plug the PhoenixFDGridTex into a shader's channel (say Albedo).
Any hint how to accomplish this in Octane to mix 2 liquids based on the RGB Grid?

Re: Blur OSL node and render time
Oh... so it's a different type of bluring OSL, different than the one on the yt video. Yes?
Since that "blur.osl" doesn't have an in-connection for hooking an rgb texture (at least not in the manifestation of it on 3dsmax).
I'll search for another OSL solution.
