Re: OctaneRender for DAZ Studio 2021.1.5 - 65 [Test]
Thank you for the update BK! Now I only tried this before going to bed so I only messed with it for around 5ish minutes but I wasn't able to get the render sub division to work, but I will mess with it again later this evening after my day job.

Re: Huge issue: SSS + fake shadows messes up phong angle
Can you share a screenshot of Random Walk node?
Universal material is tricky, since it depends on which channels/pins you are using.
If Albedo is not Black, you should set the Transmission to Diffuse.

Switching to a diffuse material or diffuse transmission (when using universal material) does NOT fix this issue. Here is what random walk looks like on a diffuse material (using DAZ plugin):
And here on a specular material:

Here is a half body render I did. Figured I should probably show how most of the skin looks on the body. I dont know if I like the included roughness maps. They appear to just be lightened black and white diffuse maps with some dark added to certain areas, though I dont know if that's how a ...

Hey that actually looks pretty good! Nice job.
Thanks, thats pretty much as far as I can take my simple diffuse/absorption shader.
But in the end, when your light is good, your skin will also look good. And lighting in closed
interiors is still a big challenge for me. I'm trying to get better ...

Ah yes, the faceting. I wonder if that's something otoy will ever resolve. I was unaware of the fake shadows thing. I've also tried diffuse shaders but I could never get over them not looking right to me. I suppose I could give it another go eventually. Do you have any tests of what you're working ...

Re: OcDS FIRST RENDERS - FIRST PRIDE :) post here...
I am currently working on a "non random walk" skin shader because Octane has so many problems when working with Random Walk, and especially in specular material, that I am willing to take a cut
at the realism to spare me the hassle.
I'm curious, what problems have you been experiencing? I wonder ...

Re: OcDS FIRST RENDERS - FIRST PRIDE :) post here...
Yeah I was talking about the diffuse/scattering depth. I usually use diffuse depth of 16 because at 8 the skin can be rather dark in some scenes. Especially interior scenes where I cannot light with HDRIs
Ohh I'll have to take a look into that.
In my experience, a diffuse depth of 16 is the ...
