Hello! Will the Octane Render using double-precision calculations of the graphics or single-precision calculations?
That was a big question of mine and Thanks to Radiance, enlightened me.
Octane is using single precision calculations so Teslas or Quadro`s are not worth buying to use with Octane ...

GK110 headed to consumer cards afterall?
GK110 on GTX cards should be awesome for Octane I would think. I know Octane is suppose to be SP but more DP consumer cards will help the dev team work out the bugs a bit longer and actually boost the render speeds. It's funny how a negative situation of Nvidia's manufacturing woes is a plus for low ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v1.0 beta 3.00[Test]
Is it possible to use particles as instance by now?
How to set it up?
Maybe by setting the referenced geometry as a Octane instance will work. Can't test it out though pretty busy this week out of my office. If it does there may be a big issue with performance as stated that individual items ...

Re: Cube in a Maze Animation
Thanks for the comment! You pretty much nailed it. I didn't even make a previs to make sure the timing was perfect.
I had an idea. I made it. And that's something I love about octane. I'd normally make an animation like this in 1.5hrs and then have to dial in a render where the time was not ...

Cube in a Maze Animation
Hey guy's this is nowhere near the photo-real awesomeness normally posted here, but there are not a whole lot of animations posted here so I thought I'd add this.

Re: save every n samples, for animations
sounds interesting except for the fact that you are exponentially increasing loads-to-card which in some of my animations is the bulk of time. The more cards you add to your system the bigger that downtime gets as well.

Re: WE NEED AMD ATI GPU SUPPORT
You know it's funny that since Nvidia went to single precision they are going to similar architecture that AMD uses. I don't doubt that Cuda 4.0 will unlock the potential in their cards for octane it's just a shame that it's so far out when the cards are here now (well at least the 670's are in ...

You might want to edit that to say "LiveDB" instead of "lifeDB"
Very excited and will use the LiveDB materials now. Thanks!

If I buy 3d max plugin license can i use it when 3d max 2013 plugin release?
I've finally cancelled my 3dsMax subscription. 2013 is probably the biggest waste of money yet, after many years of wasting money !
