Re: OctaneRender 2021.1.5 LightWave EOL Tribute build

I suppose that you should be able to continue using your current 2021.1 "enterprise" and "studio" plugin builds as long as you have an active subscription, but currently, there isn't a LightWave plugin 2021.1 "studio+" version to allow the network rendering while working with the "studio" plugin ...

Re: From Lightwave to RNDR

Maybe it was because it was just a small test (100 frames) but my export seemed pretty seamless. It didn't take long to export at all. Make sure you check the file in Octane Standalone to make sure it loads and renders properly before uploading the ORBX file. The ORBX exporter for C4D is updated ...

Re: From Lightwave to RNDR

The reason you F10 it is to save the animation out to the ORBX file. It will not "render" the scene, it just "bakes" the animation out to the ORBX/Alembic file. Try it, you'll see, it goes pretty fast.

Re: Ray Epsilon

Thanks Juanjo. I could never get what I wanted from a bump map (looked fake), so I reverted to displacement. I think you're right though, if I move the camera toward the building or change the image to a less contrasting version the problem goes away. It doesn't happen on the other smaller buildings ...

Re: Ray Epsilon

Yeah, I will. The origin is right in the middle of the building

Thanks for looking at it.

Re: Ray Epsilon

0.0001 is .1 mil (so I've tried that) and 0.00001 gives the same result as 0.0001. I re-rendered those two settings (top image is 0.0001 and bottom is 0.00001 with red circles) and added the images below. Doesn't seem to change much as I go any lower than 0.0001

thanks for helping me get to the ...

Re: Ray Epsilon

Thanks Juanjo, yeah the scale is in feet (1 unit = 1 foot) and I don't have any overlapped polys. This doesn't happen with smaller houses/buildings I've done (and nothing changes because I always start from the same scene file), but it seems to rear it's ugly head for these larger projects (where ...

Ray Epsilon

Seems I'm at an impasse with Ray epsilon. No matte what I do, I can't make the self shadowing diminish. It just moves across the model. I've tried even smaller, and even larger to no avail. Any thoughts?
.25 0.125 .1mil (respectively) The shadowing is on the left in the first image, moves right in ...

Re: InfoChannel Render is blank

I'll give that a try, but the problem seemed to fix itself when I came in this morning (don't ask me how, have no idea, it just rendered). I'll check to see if that's the culprit.

EDIT: Looks like that was it. The reason is started rendering again was because (I assume) I started rendering ...
