Re: Vellum motion blur

Anyway I've replaced this asset with a sphere, and the motion blur is there out of the box, so I'm not sure why you don't get it. What Octane and Houdini versions are you using?

Thanks,
-Juanjo

Vellum motion blur

Hello.

Apologies for my boneheadedness but I can't seem to get this very basic scene to have motion blur on deforming geo with vellum. (It's a basic head (as vellum) falling on the ground like a balloon).

Deformation blur is on in Ropnet settings in octane.
The motion blur in the camera ...

Shadows jagged on basic spheres

HI all.

Noob here (and I have searched since it seems like such an obvious issue).

How come there are jagged shadows on simple spheres ? Its clearly a shadow terminator problem but subdivisions to get rid of it make the geometry absurdly dense.

It seems like there must be a simple solve (I've ...

Motion Blur issue in Max

Hi everyone

Using motion blur in max it seems crazy long at the normal settings - also where does Octane takes it's data from - the camera or the camera panel in the render settings - it's very confusing.

However having set the MB amount to .4 it seems like a time lapse shot with crazy long ...

Re: Instancing in Octane for 3ds max.

Thank you for the reply. Yes I finally figured it out.

1. export object to Octane Proxy
2. reimport Octane proxy
3. Retexture it
4. right click on the object - click make proxy movable (why??)
5. resize proxy to the correct size (aaargh - why????)
6. Now you can duplicate it.

Obviously the last ...

Re: Instancing in Octane for 3ds max.

Also why don't proxies hold onto their textures? Plus they come in at the wrong size! Grrr.

Re: Problem with instances in Max

Why do we need to do this "movable proxy step" surely you will always want a proxy to be an instance? Seems like such a useless step to me. Also every time I import a proxy (no matter which way I save it, it crashes max every time). Why is this comparatively simple and vital function (instances) so ...

Re: Memory free instance scattering in 3ds max?

Any news on instances in Octane? I've been at this foe two days now and no joy. Looks like I'm going back to corona. :(

Doesn't anyone answer in this forum? Seems like a ghost town.
