Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2021.1.5 - 12.22

Ah thank you !
In the meantime as I need it quickly I will try an older version.

Hi Alminia,

I'm not sure witch older version would work .. so here is a quick release update with the fix. [max 2020 to 2023]
In the exporter dialog, make sure 'Motion Blur sub frames' is enabled.

Entreprise 2021 ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2021.1.5 - 12.22

I just did and the problem is also present in the standalone. But I think I found a lead. I can reproduce the problem in Max if I lower the "motion blur step" in octane object properties to 2, with a higher value the problem disappears.
The question is, why standalone don't take this parameter in ...

Focal Length instead of FOV

It would be cool to have a "focal length" parameter rather than "fov" in the camera parameters.
Because honestly it speaks to nobody. Everyone in the audiovisual world knows how to refer to focal lengths, who uses the FOV?
Plus it is a common standart in other render engines.

Thx

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2021.1.4 - 12.16

Where is the "Size X" parameter in octane light ?
Hi, Alminia,

Thanks for reporting this issue.
You have enabled the experimental 'Expand Object Dialogs width' I guess.
There are still some issues with some objects, like this..
(This happens when you resize the dialog)

Turn it off (Preferences ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v2021.1.4 - 12.16

Everything is black.

I had to reinstall 3DS MAX, I took the opportunity to install 2023 (I don't know if this is an important detail). When I create a new scene, everything works normally, but if I open a file created with 3DS MAX 2022 and Octane 11.15 (I think it was this one) the viewport is ...

Re: Tycache and Octane

Same question here,

The only way to make Tycache work is to disable GPU instancing, but it's a crazy solution that creates millions and millions polygons if you have lot of particles.

I really don't understand why instanced geometry work perfectly fine with Tyflow but not with TyCache.
