Re: OctaneRender 2026.1.Alpha 3 for Houdini Alpha (2026.1.Alpha_3.0)
Excited for 2026!
Can you guys fix the bug with multiple ROPs? I've have reported it 5 times over the years and this shit is still here. First IPR launch through the ROPs dropdown in the IPR causes an error.
Heyo!
Sorry this is the first time I've heard about this!
Could you explain the issue a ...

Re: !!NEW - Octane Houdini Video Training!!
Thanks so much. Looking forward to it! There has been a need for this type of content for quite a while now. Will there be any coverage of Octane in the Solaris context?
For now the Houdini plugin is my priority, but once the important things are covered I will probably work on some solaris ...

Re: OctaneRender 2024.1.0.1|OctaneSolaris - R1
Returning to test out the state of octane solaris, and it's nice to see that it's working well so far.
Playing with the lights though, there are some missing features.
1. When using a texture on a quad light, there seems to be no way to do normal "UV" mapping on the light (think softbox). When ...

Curious, when can we expect a build for h20.5?

Re: Composite node breaks on hip load
Generally I agree but that's not how Houdini VOPs work. Houdini inputs normally go top to bottom (see attached example below).
I think it's more important to be cohesive within the context of the app (+ the current mode breaks stuff + you have to rewire everything if you add a new layer on top ...

Re: Suggested Light UX additions.
Hey toby!
Just checking in if you had any more thoughts regarding this.
I think adding this into the UI would be a much needed user experience improvement for newcomers. Especially since the Octane functionality is working and there, but it's a PITA to setup every time you want to use a spotlight.

Ray depth switch
Would love to have a feature like Blender Cycles has where you can filter based on how many bounces etc your ray is at. Can be especially helpful for when working with glass and you want to just treat it as transparent after so many bounces. Would imagine it working similar to ray switch node.

Re: Composite node breaks on hip load
Thank you!
Well maybe the order could be confusing, but we're talking about a node based system, not layer and since the naming is clear it should be easy to figure out how things work.
If you look at the material layers they are also done that way, where it goes downwards, and that doesn't seem to ...

Re: Composite node breaks on hip load
I think the material layer node is a good example of a better implementation!
