Denoising for animation

Good evening (o;

As also a blender and E-Cycles user I know that both versions don't have any denoising features which makes it usable for render animation...unless you probably set the sample count to 20 billion (o;

Does the Octane Blender version has nowadays a usable denoising which make it ...

Re: 2 3080s or 1 3090, which config is better for Octane?

I would definitively go for a RTX3090.....I intend to myself...

Draws less power than 2 * RTX3080 and uses up less slots...
Blower designs might be clocked lower...but you gain scalability...

And there's the 24GB VRAM. 10GB is nowadays already at the lower end....

For a rough PSU calculation I ...

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

So pudgetsystems published the first result in OctaneBench with a score of 670.6....

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

So my theoretical calculation was right with 684, not taking into account the little higher base clock, which would lead to around 710 (o;

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

Stupid me (o;

Of course the RTX3080 can't be twice as fast as the RTX2080TI (o;

RTX3080 has twice the CUDA core amount, but the RT core amount is the same...

Therefore I can assume that doubling CUDA cores takes 60% of the speed improvement, whereas RT cores 40%.

So a RTX3090 with 10496 cores ...

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

Ah found the picture...was on gigabytes site not on nvidia....

Here they mention only 4 slot spacing for the NVlink...

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

So it has only an impact when rendering an animation....which I do mostly...

But guessing we're talking milliseconds here between frames....

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

Is there huge impact of available PCIe lanes per GPU? Or only for OOC?

CPUs with enough PCIe lanes are very expensive but come with core count >= 16...and consumer grade CPUs come with a maximum of 24 lanes....though PCIe 4.0.
otoh in my case running Blender most cores do nothing...even with ...

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

IIRC I saw on the NVidia website a graphic of the NVLink bridge and GPU card placements...which were 4 slots apart....

But then again....does NVLink makes sense with a 24GB card?
OTOH: I never thought 30 years ago I could ever fill my first 1ooMByte SCSI drive (o;

Dunno how Octane handles GPU ...

Re: RTX3080 RTX2080TI OctaneBench comparison

Ah interesting...

For your current dual GPU setup...what PCIe slot distance do you use?
Or are they also 2 slots apart like mine?

Haven't decided yet if I should keep my old mobo with 1950X or go with the new gen AMDs....
