Re: Feature request: Stability in huge scene
I'd also like to add a vote for some improvements to the way Octane handles "heavy" scenes. On the plugin side (C4D) I am getting sometimes pretty severe performance regressions in terms of how the UI becomes less responsive - not to mention more crashes and surprisingly quite frequent LiveViewer ...

Re: 3080 vs 3060ti
Honestly, with the rise of photoscanned assets and just larger texture sizes in general (which is good imho) having a larger VRAM pool is really useful if you ask me. Unless you really know you never get OOC / or get close to utilizing the VRAM pool on a 6GB / 8GB card because your projects are that ...

Re: RGB values in the LiveViewer
Ah, perfect! Thank you for the heads up! Super excited about it
I suppose in retrospect, sorry for wasting your time on this one. Should have double checked the release notes for 2020.2 .
Keep up the good work!

RGB values in the LiveViewer
Hey folks,
So from my understanding the RGB value sampler in the LiveViewer got removed in one of the latest 2020.1.x . It essentially got replaced by the canvas zoom in and zoom out function. All good and dandy but I'd like to start a discussion to bring back the RGB value sampler as I can't help ...

Re: 3080 vs 3060ti
I think the best way to gauge performance is to look at the actual benchmark numbers. Loading something into an 8GB pool will in my opinion not be any faster because of faster VRAM - PCIe 4.0 compared to 3.0 sure but even then I'd be a serious doubter you could ever even prove it as even x8 PCI-E 3 ...

Re: Normal map working like substance painter
Hey! Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "functioning the same as in Substance Painter"? Have you tried inverting one of the channels perhaps?

Re: OctaneRender™ 2020.2 RC1 [current 2020.2]
As mentioned by Karu here this is currently a limitation which needs to be solved by adding support for 32-bit float HDR textures. Since this version is feature locked we won't be able to add this to 2020.2 but in a future build.
