Re: *** Intermediate DEMO release 0.8 alpha windows & linux ***

EDIT: just noticed you're using it wrong.

you don't add and click on nodes like pathtracing/directlighting to switch to them.
you change it by changing the node used in the preview macro.

eg, doubleclick on the node named 'macro' on the left, then change the node there by swapping it.

first ...

Re: January: Octane License Competition

ROUBAL,

I don't even know how you are getting that many objects in the scene with all the textures. I am using a GT240 with 1Gb vram and I can maybe get about 200,000 triangles tops and no more than about 150 MB in use out of my total 1023 Mb. The first beta seemed to be more stable as far as how ...

Re: Rayepsilon...rrprob

.maxdepth is the maximum depth of paths. (this is limited by the RR though) best not touch these :)
Radiance

So is maxdepth how many bounces [or paths] the raytracing will calculate? If it shouldn't be adjusted then maybe that function should have a static setting as it would cut down on code. In ...

Re: *** Intermediate DEMO release 0.8 alpha windows & linux ***

Hi all,

I think i might have been a bit too hasty putting this one online in it's state,
but i was a bit stressed out yesterday and did'nt want to have the linux users out of the competition...

I'll provide a new release in a few days with these issues fixed.

btw, the octane load/save will be ...

Re: *** Intermediate DEMO release 0.8 alpha windows & linux ***

Actually there is more than the materials picker glitch. Agreed when rendering the demo scenes [spaceships or chess] or very small [under 100MB scenes] Octane is rendering very fast and even the mesh node inspector moves much quicker than before [but still jerky]. But I am trying a scene now that ...

Re: What can Arion do in 10 minutes?

Wow I render at more than double the resolution posted above with a Core 2 Quad 3.0 & GT240 in Octane so not really impressive, especially with as Chris mentioned above clearly visible noise in Arion. Not saying Arion doesn't look good but you can't judge the results of Octane based on the limited ...
