Re: local and render network files look different

It usually shouldn't make a difference, but you may need to make sure the Octane engine version selected on RNDR matches the one you run locally.

Re: Can't do Octane renderings with C4Dteam render !

The main thing to be aware of is that the Render Studio version on the workstation and the Network Render Node versions have to match, but the host 3D app plugin may have additional updates and versioning. For instance, both your Render Studio and your Network Render Nodes might be something like ...

Re: OctaneRender® 2024.1.2 [current 2024.1]

This is the wrong thread to post ;-) Yeah. But not wrong because 2024.1.1 has my issue and 2024.1.2 too . ;)

Re: Can't do Octane renderings with C4Dteam render !

Alright.
I was always reluctant to have to export for rendering as I do a lot of spontaneous small renders,
but in this case now i'm doing long sequences, it's a killer :)
Thanks for the reminder ;)
I'm not sure what you mean. Are you exporting to ORBX and using Octane Studio for your network ...

Re: Can't do Octane renderings with C4Dteam render !

Thanks for the insight.
I can't believe that although C4D license allows network rendering and Octane too, both together doesn't work. its very annoying
I think its a licensing issue. C4D Team render by its nature requires a full Octane install with a matching license for Octane on each ...

Re: I'm considering setting up a RNDR node -is it even worth it?

I think of running RNDR nodes not as any kind of money maker, but as a way to bank unused processing power for the time when it's needed the most. It's like time-shifting the number crunching. (At least at the scale of individual users or relatively small shops like the kinds I tend to work for ...

Re: Octane 2024.1.2 - Network Rendering

As a data point others might find useful, I just started fooling around with network rendering between an M4 Mac Mini with a 10 core GPU, 32 GB RAM and a single Windows PC with a 4090 in it. So far I've been lazy and only used wi-fi, so the render startup lag for the render node on heavy scenes is ...

Re: OctaneRender® 2026.1 Alpha 1 [current 2026.1]

Four or five years ago it used to be that Displacement maps had an 8k limit while other textures were limited only by VRAM availability. I don't recall if that has been changed since then, and a quick search of the forums isn't turning up anything newer. I would expect it to have been stated in ...

Re: Displacement on cap disconnecting from extrusion

I'm guessing that your caps are separate geometry, so the displacement is ignoring the side geometry vertices. Try collapsing the caps and sides into one piece of geometry and make sure to merge vertices, then apply the displacement to the top faces only. The edge vertices should come along for the ...
