Re: Render Stuck at "Displaying Pass"

What is the resolution of your render? I had a lot of this annoying problem while rendering images from 2K to 4K.

Re: Z depth pass + depth of field

Thank you all for your responses.

I have done some test.
If you look at the 2 images attached you will see that the environment depth setting does absolutely nothing (or there is something that I don't understand?).
The only way I could get the DOF to work on that background element is by ...

Re: Z depth pass + depth of field

Hi Elsksa,

I am sorry, I have checked your page but how does it help in my situation?
I just need to know why Octane is not blurrying the area I marked? Everything before it contains the blur info in the Zdepth but not this area, I am just wondering why.

Z depth pass + depth of field

Hello,

I rendered a scene that contains 'in render' camera depth of field. I wanted to add a bit of atmosphere in post so I enabled Zdepth pass.

If you see the image attached you can see that my Zdepth contains the DOF informations except for the background object under the red line. In my scene I ...

Re: AOV group 'Light mix node' compositing in AE

Thank you Elsksa!

See attachement picture, is it what you are talking about?

So, if I want to have my AOV passes correct, I need to go through the standard ACES workflow with the openio file, am I right?

Then this means the 'ACES Tone Mapping' in the imager is just a 'fake' ACES and should be ...

AOV group 'Light mix node' compositing in AE

Hello its me again,

I am testing the 'Light Mix Node' AOV preset for a project.

When I composite all my Lights passes in After Effect I have a slight color difference compared to my beauty pass. It looks slightly darker.

I am using the ACES tone mapping option in the Imager as well as render my ...

Re: Octane Spotlight, with no 'hack'.

It's not a point but an actual physical thin geometry surface. I believe I made it quite small in my demo (⌀10cm to ⌀30cm, IIRC) and the camera was quite far to show most of the "light beam". I'm solely using the quad light + spotlight distribution "combo" (or the equivalent using a disc geo ...

Re: Octane Spotlight, with no 'hack'.

Thank you Elska for answering.

Im not sure that you understood what I was talking about.

If you check the youtube link video I shared in my first post you will see how a spotlight can be achieved in Redshift. From a rectangle or disc area light, it seems possible to direct the light like a ...

Octane Spotlight, with no 'hack'.

Hello,

I was recently watching a video of Woosung Kang at The 3D and Motion Design Show and he was showing how he created some spotlight animation for Odesza, in Redshift.
https://youtu.be/14rAMg29vaw?t=675

I tried to apply the same technique and see if I could do it in Octane, as I do not use ...

Re: Combine HDRI light + Sphere emitter light

It is working a bit indeed, that is a nice tip to know thank you!

But I can't imagine that it is not possible to put invisibility to an dome sphere while retaining its emission.
Like it would be cool to have light linking for HDRi as well. E1, E2, E3 for example.

Anyway I was on a deadline so I ...
