Re: Recurring Plugin Crashes on Render

Hi,
please, open the scene, then go to c4doctane Settings/Others tab, and, at the bottom of the panel, enable all the Log option checkboxes:

You have 16gb ram and you may be on out of memory. What's total triangle count for scene and objects?
Poly count for the scene is about 2M, and about 2000 objects.

Recurring Plugin Crashes on Render

I have been trying to render a scene that is generally small, but has a large number of plant instances scattered using the Octane scatter obj. When I hit render, it goes fine for about 4-5 frames, then crashes, giving me the attached bug report. Anyone have any ideas? I can't decode what the ...

Auto Downscale RAM Textures?

Hi! Is there a way to tell octane to automatically downscale textures over a certain dimension or size? A lot of my scenes are having a couple hundred MB for most of the things sent to RAM, then nearly 6GB of textures, causing a crash. I have 100 or so materials so it would take a while to go ...

Ahah! That fixed it completely. Thanks so much!

Yes, here it is :) I am trying to project the blood image onto the wall as well as the person... It works just fine on the cube and ground plane I have, but goes all wacko on the geometry of the wall and character. Thanks

Camera Projection Mapping/Alphas Not Working

Hi! I am trying to project an alpha texture onto an object using a camera. In the viewport all works fine, however in Octane, it renders as if I had the material tag set to UV projection. How can I fix this? I have also had some issues where the entire object becomes invisible due to the alpha ...

Alright. I upped the limit to 14GB and it sorta helped. But thanks!

I have it turned on, and the RAM usage limit is at 10GB. I was able to get it working by downscaling all the 4k mats, but for future reference if I feel I need all high quality mats, is there any way to fix this?

Running out of VRAM on a Relatively Small Scene

Hi! I have been trying to render a scene that has about 500k tris and 900k disp tris. Every time I hit render, I get a failure due to running out of memory. I have rendered scenes with over 5M polys no problem, so this is super frustrating. I have tried deleting large objects and reducing polys, but ...
