Re: Houdini 16.5 and Octane 3.07 install error
Is there any word on this update? The most recent version at otoy.com download page still doesn't give me any H16.5 version.

Re: Network rendering and local host
My bad… The issue was not that localhost was not being utilised, the issue is just that the scene loading is a big proportion of the render time in my scene (still, after multithreading it, and pre-caching the dynamics solver's output etc that I thought would be a major contributor to the per-frame ...

Network rendering and local host
I'm noticing that if I have the network rendering on, the local host's GPU is not being utilised unless I toggle a network rendering slave also on in the local machine and enable it also for the task. I'm picking this up by looking at GPU utilisation with the iStats Menu GPU monitor. Is this to be ...

Re: Geometry from the new H16 boolean node mishandled by Octane
Is there an argument against toggling the NGon tesselation on by default? Is the thinking that I'll be able to achieve a better result potentially with the host application's "native" tesselation?

Amazing, thank you so much! I can confirm also at my end that your suggestions worked.

Geometry from the new H16 boolean node mishandled by Octane
I've hit what looks like a bug in Octane with dealing with some geometry produced by the new boolean operator in H16. I've attached a screenshot from the viewport, from a Mantra render, and an Octane (notice how the side pieces have an extra "triangle"). Any idea of how I would work around this? I ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - test build 3.06.0.4
Oops, I probably didn't leave the example session in a sensible state. I've attached a copy of it in the present copy stamp based state with this reply. Below you'll also find a video link showing what the effect looks like. Basically, there is an animation going on in the scene, and pretty much ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - test build 3.06.0.4
I can't seem to be able to get packed primitive rendering working with this version. I am using a copy point SOP to copy some spheres onto particle locations and the copied spheres just don't make it to OctaneRender output at all. Is there something special I need to do to make geometry like this ...

Re: Geom with "copy to points" instanced spheres not showing.
Ah, I'd read that but didn't get it to work – I had misunderstood though, what I had tried to do was to tick that color packing into the UV map, and then use the original texture as the texture. Oops, need to instead use the texture that's included in the plugin install. Will give that a go…

Re: Geom with "copy to points" instanced spheres not showing.
Actually, I have another related problem: the points that I'm rendering have the Cd attribute set based on the 3D scan's texture. Is it possible to get the vertex color to feed into the sphere primitives' color?
