I've noticed a new problem which i dont know a way around - the clipping material prohibits shadows from falling on objects that are "inside" the clipping objects. (See screenshots and scene attched)
is there a way to fix this?
Hi,
The object layer map that is attached to the clipping material ...

Re: OctaneRender® 2022.1 XB 0
I know this is a very early XB, but we should probably start reporting some stuff:
Some scenes exported, are working ok with default Pathtracing kernel. The moment I switch to Photon tracing the engine stops and can't visualize results. In fact, octane becomes irresponsive.

It is not possible at the moment, I am working on an implementation for clipping material to work with rounded edges.HHbomb wrote:Hi, could it be possible to have "Round edges" applied with "clipping material" ? Because it make hard edges.

Re: Universal Specular produces different result in 2020.2+
Hi,
This was indeed a fix for the universal material when you mix the diffuse reflection lobe with the specular transmission lobe. The problem before was that the diffuse reflection was lobe was causing some darkening when the ray exits the material from inside (2020.1).
Cheers,
Wallace

Re: OctaneRender™ 2021.1 RC 1 [current 2021.1]
I get some bad results using RTX in conjunction with nesteddialectics and CAD Data:
RTX:

RTX Off
Octane_Error_2.JPG
I can't share the scene unfortunately and can't reproduce it in another scene.
I have fixed several issues related to this, pretty confident that it would ...

BUG: Weird lines in example with RTX on using 3090
I found another example that renders some weird lines on a 3090 with RTX on. RTX off looks ok.
The camera is in the exact same position as the floor, so its causing problems, but RTX on should look the same as RTX off.

Thanks!manalokos wrote:Dear Wallace,
With RTX off it behaves normally.
I will send you an example scene right away by private message.
Kind regards

I can confirm that this is a bug I have fixed a few days ago. The fix will be in the next release.

Re: OctaneRender™ 2021.1 RC 1 [current 2021.1]
I am having issues with the specular component of the shaders.
The specular part of the material randomly disappears when moving the camera.
Attached are 2 images, one looks normal the other I get when I move the camera a little bit to the side.
I am using RTX 3090 and Nvidia driver 466.47

Martimoo also posted an orbx where the hair has lots of "white" areas in 2021.1.
The problem doesnt appear in 2020.1.5

Note: In this screenshot, 2021.1 has been set to "use old color pipeline" to avoid another bug.
