Thanks for the feedback guys! @TonyBoy @bepeg4d you were right it was my fake shadows, also had the emission down as a texture emission rather than a blackbody, also I didn't have fake shadows on! In the interface the box for Fake shadows was on but underneath it, the tick box was not checked, so ...

Hi aoktar, will take a look at those videos now.
So I could see what was going on, I removed the post effects, then also turned the hot pixel removal to almost '0' ... this killed my fireflies, which is great but I think I see what the issues is.

Sorry 'broken' was the wrong word to use, as it implies the software is to blame which it is definitely not, entirely user error.
