Re: How to do SSS on Max ?!

I'm still playing with density but it has allmost no effects.
From 1 to 150 I barely see no changes...
The light should be massively changing to the corner because of the thickness varying...

PS : And another topic, how to make slight reflection on that ?

Re: How to do SSS on Max ?!

Thanks Paride!
It's much simpler with a diffuse mat than with a spec mat :)

Re: How to do SSS on Max ?!

Hi,
I'm trying now how to make a foam material (as in the references uploaded).
But I still cant figure out how to set up sss.
The color is dull and too dark, the light is weird...and render is awfull.
It look like bad wax or soap but absolutly not foam.
(I started from a sss specular material ...

Re: Particles flow crash

Ok.
Thanks Paride, I will try.

But I'm affraid it wont be enough as I would need 10x more particles do make the vegetation in my scene...

Re: Particles flow crash

When redering with 3000 particle, the task manager indicates that Ram stays under 20 Go usage over 24 Go total.
So it's not a Ram limit problem I guess.

Also what is strange is that the octane viewport indicates 4.794 Go available VRam.
Shouldn't it be 6 Go available as only the GTX980ti is active?

Re: Particles flow crash

Can you tell me what you mean by "depends on memory"?

Bad memory on PC? on GPU ?
Insufficient amount of GPU memory?

Re: Particles flow crash

Sorry for posting so late, I was off for a few days.
Here's a scene.
A simple Pflow scattering teapot on a plane.
It renders with Birth set to 2000.
If I raise the birth to 3000 it crashes.

Seems to be a memory issue...

Particles flow crash

Particle crash.jpg Hi,
I have a simple plane on wish I scatter a meshes (7000 faces) using particle flow.
Each time I set particle birth to more than 1500 instances Max crashes when opening OctaneRender viewport (or launching a render).

I think 1500 instance is not a big deal for particle...I ...
