Re: Will the RTX 3080 work in Octane 4.05-R7?

Same here. New Nvidia Founder RTX 3090 and it's refusing to save out any image - unless i just select save out from the live viewer. Nothing in the render queue works / saves out. RTX isn't enabled and neither is Denoising. Renders perfectly well in the live viewer though.

**edit** I'm a moroon ...

Re: UV Emission Data (X-particles)

Thanks as always Aoktar.

I've had a good look at those previously. They don't address driving a material for particles (attached to the particles) via anything animated. They discuss taking particle parameters and driving material in order to animate - which isn't quite what i'm trying to do.

If ...

Re: UV Emission Data (X-particles)

@aoktar - any chance you can point me in the right direction?

I'm thinking i should be able to drive the animated particle colour with x-particles display (use an animated noise shader) then reference that in an Ocatne material to colour as needed??

UV Emission Data (X-particles)

I'm trying to drive a material colour based on the particle colour - which is in turn being driven by an animated noise node.

The particles are being coloured (black and white gradient) by an animated noise node on a plane. The plane is populated with particles then i'm advecting them. I want to ...

Mutli-GPU rig?

Hi has anyone got any recommendations around a motherboard for a multi-GPU rig i'm interesting in scoping out?

I'm looking for something that will take more than 4 cards, ideally 8+.

It a case of getting a decent Motherboard and then using a PCI-E extension to get the amount i'm looking for?

Zero cost to upgrade from V3 to V4, so you are all clear.

OctaneRender 3 upgrade to 4 costs?

I'm looking to buy a 5 seat license for Standalone but i'm unclear about how this will be impacted by the release of V4. Primarily this is for Network rendering along side Cinema 4D (so the plugin release date will come into play as well).

I don't want to drop $2k on licenses to then have to ...

Material: following object direction

Hi is a super super easy problem but for the life of me i can fix it.

I've got a helix and i'm looking to map a texture to it (snake skin). I'm trying to get the material to follow the curl and direction of the object but it just won't. I've messed around with both projection and UV mapping with ...

Re: Scatter & Animated shader (via image sequence)

Thanks Aoktar, that did it. Keyframed every frame and it started updating as expected.

Ace thanks Aoktar. Is there a way to get it to work?
