Hi,
I came across this octane render and I couldn't figure out how to reproduce the glass look. The glass seem to have some kind of reflective coating but I am not sure how it was done. any ideas ?
Regards,
Mishal

Re: optimization strategy to reduce noise
This thread is heading towards adaptive sampling right? Isn't that already locked in as an octane 3.1 feature?
Hi Prehabitat,
Thanks for the tip regarding adaptive sampling, I did not know about this feature or how it is done.
After having fun yesterday analysing how octane engine is handling ...

Re: optimization strategy to reduce noise
OK, so can you post same graph for two different GI clamp values - 10000 and 1
Hi Smicha,
sorry I misunderstood your original request, still learning Octane render :).
Sure, I attached GI clamp of 1 and 10000 noise images. I changed the engine to PT and now working with 16 bit images. the noise ...

I agree, I think Octane, despite its speed, can also benefit from such optimization.Terryvfx wrote:I just saw a feature similar added to Corona and Renderman and now I'm jealous.

Re: optimization strategy to reduce noise
Interesting! Nice to see matlab in action (I used it years ago besides gauss and r).
Could you compare the level of nosie in more dimensions - (ms/s, GI clamp, Coherent ratio) and post graphs (2D or 3D)?
That will be interesting but it requires the engine reporting these values to work with ...

optimization strategy to reduce noise
Hi,
I am wondering if finding out which pixels are still noisy and calculating a relative "pixel noisiness" measure can help in optimizing the ray tracing engine (like progressively concentrating the rays on those noisy pixels/patches and reducing rays or even eliminating them for pixels that are ...

Bricks and steel
Hi everyone,
just wanted to share some of my quick renders with Octane V3 and C4D. I am extremely impressed with Octane speed and amazing results . I used dirty steel and translucent blue plastic from LiveDB.
2500 Lego bricks, 3 min for Steel (DL, 2048 SPP) and 25 min for Translucent Blue (PMC ...

Re: how to access LiveDB content
Hi Mishal,
in LiveDB you can share octane materials in orbx format with any kind of Octane user. In Standalone is possible to share via orbx also complete scenes, geometry and all the necessary stuff. With plugins is a bit more complicated because every app has its own way.
Anyway, here are some ...
