I am for this request as well!aoktar wrote:Yes if others agree with this!zoppo wrote:Just a small suggestion: would it be possible to set EXR(Octane) as standard format in the render passes tab?
I always use this (cryptomatte!) but sometimes I forget to switch from EXR and then have to re-render.

It is a setting under the general render settings for Octane in C4D.

+1
But something like this only makes sense if it is updated AT LEAST bi-weekly.

We are getting white flashes in the denoised images as well! Using the latest stable realease and Nvidia Driver 417.71.
As you can see in the attached image the flashes only occur on the denoised image.
UPDATE: This only seems to happen when using the Direct Lightning Kernel as our Pathtracing ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 2018.1 RC5 [latest 2018]
Great work on getting 2018 to this state so fast after V4 but I have to say that the sudden change of the amount of usable cards with the studio subscription Version is very bad.

I can confirm that the problems that sbstnc is having with an unresponsive LV are happening for us as well.
We also have a dual card setup and even switching off one card in the settings does not help with the interface freeze happening inside C4D.

Re: Octane C4D and nested Render Instances
I just did a quick test with a very high poly object and my assumption was correct. There is no additional RAM cost when referencing an Instance Object set to "Render Instance" with the Instance mode set to "Instance" and they are all rendered correctly as well.

Re: Octane C4D and nested Render Instances
I would think that the most memory effective workflow (with the limitation in mind) would be to set the very first instance of an object as "Render Instance" and then use "Instance" for all instances refereing to the very first one set to "Render Instance".
I am not 100% sure about that though. If ...

Octane C4D and nested Render Instances
When referencing existing "Render Instances" in a new Instance Object it seems that Octane for C4D does not display/calculate those Instance Objects.
The same happens when referencing a mixed group containing Instances set to "Render Instance". Instances set to "Instance" will be displayed correctly ...
