Re: Plugin started crashing today

I had to delete the standalone, the plugin, and the preferences. Now it seems to work. So weird, just started suddenly.

Plugin started crashing today

Hi everyone,

I am running C4D 18, Windows 10 with 4XGTX1080 cards, and the latest version of octane, and today C4D keeps crashing as soon as I open the render viewer.

Any thoughts why? Even a reinstall of the plugin won't work

TIA

Problems with random color & mograph

Hi guys,

I've read a few post about the variation shader in OR and having some issues. I am connecting a random color to a gradient note and this again into a diffuse channel. The checkered color map looks good but the mograph materials won't display the random colors within the instances. I only ...

Re: is it possible to Import .Orbx into C4D???

Yes I second that feature. We are having major issues between Maya and C4D pipeline in the office. Still trying to figure out how we can transfer materials and objects from various platforms. It seems easy to export but not to import.

CrossPlatform

Hi guys, Any tips how to work cross platform. I am a C4D user and two other co-workers prefer Maya, can we export OBJs somehow that we can share a scene with the same shaders? If so how?

Thanks

Re: Change Standalone to 3dsmax license.

This is from the official purchasing page:

Important! OctaneRender™ for Autodesk® 3ds Max® requires an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition license to function. If you do not already own a Standalone Edition license then make sure to choose “OctaneRender™ for Autodesk® 3ds Max® + Standalone Combo ...

Re: Card advice for PC Build - non SLI

After I read that OTOY is working on the CUDA 8 release that should be official coming out between now and August I will build for the company a 4 non ski 1080 GTX workstation to take full advantage of the cards. I am seeing benchmarks from other GPU renders with 4 non SLI 1080 cards and it's fast.

Re: New to Octane, (haven't bought yet), trying to understand

I am still new to it as well. Is it correct that one doest;t have to SLI their cards in order to get maximum performance? For instance: would 4 GTX 1080, 4x980, or 4xTitanX would work better without SLI than to SLI them?

Card advice for PC Build - non SLI

Hi, as long time mac user I am switching over to PC and obviously there is tons of stuff thats to learn. So far I've been able to get up to speed with everything but the graphic cards. I know the 1080X is just released, not supported from the developer, but they are working on it as I've read here ...
