I had some issues with Fireflies in the specular recently. A few days later i saw Redshift is planning a "Rough to glossy Firefly improvement".
Would be awsome to have a function like this - are there any plans for this in the future?

I think i found the solution for my case. I just have ordered the Standalone License which is not working for Cinema4D.
I try to exchange it now and hope it works.

I have exactly the same issue. My Standalone is working and has access to the license. When i open C4D he tells me i have no License left.
Also your example works for me, i can log out with terminal. When i open Cinema then i get the message "Could not find available licenses".
