Re: OctaneRender™ 2020.1 XB1
Hi, I was just asking on the Houdini plugin forum about the recommended workflow for using ACES and Juanjo suggested I enquire on this general release forum. Am I right in thinking that textures need to be pre-converted to ACES CG and I was also wondering about viewing the render in ACES space in ...

Re: OctaneRender 2020.1 for Houdini Beta build 2020.1.0.0 XB1
As far as I know ACES is only available while exporting EXR files using the new file format option. The IPR data is always exported as it is available from the imager node, so unless the ACES correction is also available in this node, I suppose that you should try to configure the ACES options in ...

Re: OctaneRender 2020.1 for Houdini Beta build 2020.1.0.0 XB1
It's great to see that ACES workflow has been introduced. I'm still a bit hazy on how to set it up. Am I right in thinking that to set it up correctly, it would be a matter of :
1. Bringing in the textures in pre-converted to AcesCG, ideally.
2. Setting the response curve to 'linear/off' in the ...

Re: Volume Rendering Issue
Just uploading a video for reference, too. I've been going slightly mad trying to sort it as I can't work out any clues as to what it could be.
In the scene is a simple sphere with a cloud volume node attached and a bit of noise to break it up (I tried playing with density values at sop level ...

Re: Volume Rendering Issue
Oh and yes, I've been using the latest plugins. What's strange is that I've had the same behaviour since trying to do some work with volumes last December (ie with earlier plugins), which is why I imagined it might be something my end as someone else would've reported it by now if it were a bug.

Re: Volume Rendering Issue
Thanks for having a look at it and I'll do some extra digging to see if I can find any clues as to what might be causing it. I exported the the scene and opened it in the Octane standalone and it seemed to work fine there. Really strange!

Re: Volume Rendering Issue
I think the file didn't attach, so I've zipped it and attached it now, in case there are any clues in the scene

Volume Rendering Issue
I have an issue every time I try to render volumes with Octane, the same issue with both Octane 4 latest build and 2018.1.
When I interactively change some of the settings on the volume shader, the IPR updates to what looks to be the correct changes that I would expect, but then when I refresh the ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 2018.1 for Houdini™ beta build 2018.1.0.6 RC6
I think I read somewhere that the OSL features might allow for true world space noise displacement - is this something that is likely to be possible at some stage as this seems one of the big things absent from GPU rendering, or is it an inherent limitation of the memory restrictions of GPUs? Thanks ...
