It would be nice to see a material similar to Matte/Shadow/Reflection material in mental ray, with the ability to control from which light(s) to store the shadow(s), to store reflections and be able to "mask" objects in shots where you match geometry with live footage.

Hi,
Material IDs under a Mix Material are not working. They do work under a Multi/Sub Object Material.

That's what I did, as a workaround for the Object IDs. But my main goal was to have an extra pass from the Material IDs because the material of the boxes have 2 different materials under a Mix Material, a glossy one and a diffuse one.

Sorry, I got confused. The 4 boxes have different materials, but the same Material ID.
