Re: Hair Density

Ah, ok. That's interesting. They have some Legacy option called "Cinema 4D Hair Evaluation" in Redshift, but it doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing there's not a super high chance this will ever get fixed by Maxon.. 😓

I will continue to use b&w images for now. Thank you for your help. 😊

Re: Hair Density

Yeah, Vertex Maps works to control Density, Length, etc. with the Standard Renderer.

But thank you, I will use a greyscale map for now. Hope this will one day be supported. 😊

Hair Density Vertex Map

Hi, I'm trying to control opacity/density of a Hair object with a Vertex Map and it seems this is still not possible in Octane 2026.4. I've tried plugging the vertex map to the opacity through a regular vertex map node and an attribute node. Hair Density doesn't seem supported at all, so no use ...

Re: Which feature do you need the most?

Something that has been #1 on my wish-list for a long time... is an alpha channel / matte for the reflection pass when using 'render layer'.

Essentially (particularly on light-colored backgrounds) setting the reflection to 'add blend mode' is not enough. Part of the compositing is obscuring other ...

Re: Reflection compositing

No, I haven't. :( The only solution I've found is to re-render your reflection pass with a white material to get a mask. I haven't tried the AOV system in the latest releases, maybe there's a way to get both rendered at the same time using that.

Re: Might we be able to get a background object?

+1 for this, please. Getting a proper color space throughout the compositing pipeline is a real pain in Octane at the moment. :(

Reflection compositing

Hi! I've been wondering, for almost all of my time using Octane... how is everyone else using the Render Layer's reflection pass in their compositing?

The way the pass looks now, all black with the objects reflection, seems almost useless for 90% of my compositing jobs.

Let's say I have a image ...
