Re: Scatter object questions

Thanks for the reply. I've not had success using the Copy SOP as it's very slow (seems like Octane is trying to mesh every instance individually at rendertime). However, the "Instance" SOP is working nicely with performance similar to Octane's scatter object. Adding random colors to my points is ...

Scatter object questions

I'm currently working on a project that would benefit greatly from using the scatter object, but I'm finding this feature quite mystifying and have a couple questions..

1. How do I instance more than 4 unique objects? Is there some sort of identification attribute that I can apply to my points such ...

Re: Network render node not showing up

Hi elihu252,
have you change something in the IP settings of the Octane network configuration window?
If both PC have the same SDK version and are in the same subnet, the master should see the slave automatically
What are exactly the two IP addresses?
ciao beppe

I've not changed any ...

Network render node not showing up

I have a simple home network. Two PCs connected to the same router via ethernet cable. They can share files / share screens / etc. All of the basic network functionality is set up. I have Windows Firewall turned off on both PCs. Both are running the most recent version of Octane render and my main ...

A case study for my latest Octane project

I just published a short case study on my latest project using the Octane Render plugin for Cinema 4d. It can be found here: http://jamestupper.com/articles/ansible-tower

The 3D work in this video went from just an idea to polished and complete in a few weeks. I was in charge of everything from ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.03.2 - updated [current 3.xx]

For what it's worth, I've been e-mailing with someone at Otoy and they said that at the moment the GTX 1080 puts about roughly the same performance as a single Titan BLACK. In other words it's not optimized at all atm. I just bought 2 1080s and I'm going to install them today to run my own non ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.03.2 - updated [current 3.xx]

This is all very exciting. I'm close to pulling the trigger on 3x Pascal GPUs but I just need to be sure that they are the best option for the money. As soon as I see a legit benchmark, I'll be able to buy my new GPUs and finally get some work done!

Re: Quick help with GPU's question

Just use whatever the most cost effective card is. However, if you can wait until August (when Octane will hopefully support Pascal GPUs), then I'd recommend getting a 1070 instead of a 970 or even the newly announced 1060. Both will be much faster than than 970.

Re: Network rendering with Macbook and PC slave

Your VRAM will be limited to whatever your laptop is. I have a Mid 2014 MacBook Pro and am limited to 2GB (Closer to 850MB once all the background process is being used). The way we've solved this is either (a) build our scene on the laptop, then remote desktop into a Mac Pro and render from there ...
