the plugin hangs the entire UE5, crashes.
a simpler scene seems to work but when i loaded up a larger one everything freezes and in the lower right corner the dialog says "constructing scripts".
have to shut down ue via task manager.
my scene is a cityscape with 30+ buildings, many lights and decals. cant share it.

Re: PSA octane server keeps allocating ram after exiting blender
i made sure i downloaded both latest blender installation files.
my blender.exe is dated 16.4. cant seem to ever find a way to check the plugin version.
i installed the latest because i get "this version is not longer supported" every once in a while.
infact i recently(under a week ago) got the ...

Re: PSA octane server keeps allocating ram after exiting blender
just tried it again and same thing.
after i close the blender/octane the server still retains data. screencap attached.
usually i would get frustrated say this is complete nonsense but at this point i am happy to be leaving octane behind.
all in all it was an aggravating experience tbh.

Re: PSA octane server keeps allocating ram after exiting blender
thanks lino,
the scenario you described is to be expected.
however to be clear:
i exited blender for octane and started up the e-cycles build and could only render via cpu.
took me a while to actually figure out what was using up the vram.
the server definitely did not purge the cache upon ...

PSA octane server keeps allocating ram after exiting blender
maybe this is by design but it actually annoyed the hell out of me just now.
i could not render in cycles anymore on gpu. taskmanager was displaying 90% out of 11gb used with nothing else running.
turns out octaneserver was using some 8+gb running in background doing nothing. probably left over by ...

letting octane sub lapse and other software
i really gave it a fair go over the yeara but 99% sure i will be letting my octane subscription lapse in august. there is no way to justify the cost, since i cant use it without constant problems.
i have been a pest on these forums because of this all for long enough.
few question:
- how do i ...

Re: PR11 | Wrong Server Version
no i am using windows, not wanting to hijack.
its just that each time i try and start blender i have to try 3-4 times on average.
sometimes the server is not running. sometimes i get version not supported. sometime it freezes.
i keep turning off octane in task manager and restarting until it works.
