Re: Cinema4D version 2021.1.1-R3 (Stable 2021) 01.02.2022

This version runs much slower in R25 (.117 release) than in R23.

- Soloing nodes takes a long time and frequently freezes up the system.
- Loading scenes in general takes longer.
- I'm also unable to hide the direct controls on the nodes themselves so the interface looks very cluttered.
- If I ...

Will Octane for C4D ever be able to access hair UVs / per-curve width attributes from XGen and other grooming tools?

Re: Light Primitive: OSL Spread Function

Goldorak wrote:The spread function is in fact baked into Octane X already, and we are working to get this into 2020.2+ built in nodes too!
Will this ever be implemented into the C4D build without a need for the OSL script?

Re: Cinema4D version 2020.2.5-R3 (Latest stable) 16.09.2021

Using Render As Hair option in the Object tag on an XpTrail object crashes C4D instantly. Running the latest updates on R23 and XP.

Edit: narrowed down what's crashing it. Changing any of the parameters from the default under the Spline section on the XpTrail option will cause an immediate crash.

What does any of this mean? Some of my textures from old scenes look completely different.

Edit: maybe consider leaving this option on "Linear sRGB + Legacy gamma" by default for the final release. Had to switch all my imageTexture nodes one by one to match the look of my old renders.

Great release, thanks.

I'm encountering issues of the live viewer not updating when I change parameters in the node editor - my node editor is docked as a tab in the UI. Sometimes I also have to click on the material in the Material Manager a few times in order for the nodes to show up in the node ...

Re: Cinema4D version 2020.2-R3 (Stable release) 19.02.2021

Thank you aoktar! I noticed a couple of things with this release:

1) The dirt node doesn't affect bump.
2) The chaos node doesn't behave correctly with normal maps when you try to bring the intensity of the map down using the power slider.
3) The solo function behaves unpredictably; sometimes it ...

OSL technique to randomize texture tiles on the same object

Hi all,

I'm trying to achieve something similar to the Q Tile Pro plugin, but much simplified in engine solution.

I put an ImageTexture node and use Triplanar or Box projection to project it on my model.
I then use the Transform node to shrink the tiles so I get a repeating pattern.
I want to be ...

Re: Cinema4D version 2020.1-RC2[R2](ReleaseCandidate) 24.03.2020

Hi all,

a few questions:

1) Is random walk SSS implemented in any other material types except the basic diffuse material? On every other material type (universal, layered, etc.) the node does nothing, but in the diffuse material I can see it at work. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

2) The ...
