Re: Which feature do you need the most?

SANDWICH MAKING

Sometimes I get hungry and would really like a sandwich. Why can't Octane make me one while I wait for a render to finish? Surely you can reserve some CUDA cores towards the sandwich making process. It doesn't have to be fancy but do I prefer whole wheat bread. Hold the mayo.

Houdini but this could have been done in any package. Look up "Pin Toy" + the name of your software.

Re: OctaneVR reveiled by Otoy

The only problem I see is that I am forced to buy a Samsung Note 4.
That makes me want to find good alternative.
Samsung recently announced a new Gear VR compatible with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge:

Re: Silverwing Demoreel 2014

Well done but I would start the demo reel at 0:16 and remove the clips between 1:54 through 2:08 (those 4 pieces are not the best examples of what you're capable of doing). Don't worry about length just shoot for quality.

Re: An important question for the OTOY Development Team

I am working on new voxel geometry type, potentially it can build more complex displacement geometry with mix and procedural textures, but I can't promise anything. It is completely new technology.
Hey Karba, would this new voxel geometry type be compatible with OpenVDB files from outside sources ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 2.10 [latest 2.xx]

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

We support OpenEXR 2.0 so we have the ability to write out deep data. We don't have a pass yet that captures deep data. If there's demand for this we can certainly add this. Are you already using this in your workflow?

cheers,
Thomas

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 2.10 [latest 2.xx]

Please be aware that the render passes are not finished yet. Feel free to let us know which passes you are missing and why you need them, i.e. how you use them in your compositing workflow. Most of the work was integrating render passes into our interactive render framework, which is done now and ...

Re: War Machine Shader Test

Very nice!
Where the feet meet the floor is not convincing yet.
Maybe some contact shadow and/or some color blending would add to the realism.
And the scale of the background is not correct.... the character is too small.
To be fair, he did say that this was a 'shader' test. If this thread was ...

It would be really cool if you could include both color and lighting information into the point cloud similar to a brickmap in Renderman:
