Re: octane doesn´t accept geforce gtx 1060
It's also possible for an application writer to explicitly check an installed GPU against a "whitelist", and only turn on the GPU acceleration path if the detected GPU belongs to the "whitelist". This might be what is happening in some of these cases where CUDA is installed correctly but the app ...

Re: problem license octane VR for c4d
I too moved my process to Octane a while back. Have CV-VR came out earlier I might have stayed with “vanilla” C4D, but by the time I learned of it, I have invested enough time and hardware into Octane to not even consider moving back.

Re: problem license octane VR for c4d
It depends on your hardware and what type of renders you need to complete. I have both and I tend to do the most of my rendering in Arnold. On my machine Octane is decently fast but Arnold can be just as fast...it all depends. Arnold is a bit expensive for building a farm but I get by with my single ...

Re: Renderfarm issue same data but different result
had similar thing couple years ago on couple identical HP workstations (xw6600, xeons).
Everything identical but 2 of them where rendering twice as long as the other ones.
After bios upgrade everything went fine and they were fast as others as well so that can be one thing to check out too, bios ...

Re: Which Graphic Hardware for 100% Pre-Rendered VR-Experience
Pre-builts are almost always more expensive, and you are likely saving a few hundred dollars as well as getting more high-quality components. All of the listed builds are compatible! Prices vary so it's possible they've changed a bit over time.

Re: more number of graphics cards, or less but more powerful?
From what I know (I've been using Octane for 2+ years) VRAM doesn't add up. And this is something important to keep in mind. If you get let's say 2x 1070s and then plan to add a 1080, you are stock with the 8GB of VRAM of the 1070.

Re: Animation seamless over static cubemap? (360 pano/stereo)
Seams like eventually it would be possible to have all the static parts of the scene baked into one light field image, and alpha the animated elements on top. Can't wait for the future..

Re: renderview speed versus preview render
Finally solved this one it appears. You can turn on the same 'Preview' settings in the output Mantra node and get the 'no process black area' for speedier renders. This might also solve the disparity between Render View Preview tests and output renders. You simply add the 'Preview' tab to the Mantra ...
