ORC - how and estimating cost

(1)
I have a standalone + C4D Octane license... can I use ORC? or do I need to purchase a (really confusingly named!) OctaneVR subscription?

It's not clear - I read a post that says you need an Octane VR Subscription to use ORC... but it doesn't mention it on the ORC page at all. Unless I'm on ...

Re: Infinite Rig / Infinite Floor or Ocean + limit visibility

Hi Milan,

Thanks a lot for putting this together.

I went ahead and pretty much applied this method based on your prev post - using your idea of the geo falling off in a fan shape, with less polys in the distance and the cluster rig from Valkaari, which helped to pin the HOT4D deformer down ...

Re: Aniated Vertex Maps Texture

Hi akotar

Thanks for following up.

I was using Hot4D to generate vertex maps for ocean foam... it's probably something to do with how the maps are generated by that plugin and not Octane/my settings.

*When I put the vertex effect node into an octane 'add' shader in the mix material amount field ...

Re: Aniated Vertex Maps Texture

I went back to 'Resend only updated objects' but enabled the All objects movable.
I also turned motion blur on ...

One of those seems to have solved it, it think. Getting a few dropped frames tho.

Re: Aniated Vertex Maps Texture

I've got a plane that's deforming and a vertex map is generated based on height of the deformation.

I want to use the generated vertex map as the Amount texture in an Octane Mix tag to mask tow materials.
Is it possible?

Seems to work with animation in the IPR but when endering to picture viewer ...

Aniated Vertex Maps Texture

I've seen some folks use vertex maps in Octane - but I'm having some issues rendering a texture driven by an animated octane map... not sure if it's fully supported. Read that it is in v3.

Does ayone know if animated vertex maps are supportd and can be used in conjuction with textures / mix ...

Re: Infinite Rig / Infinite Floor or Ocean + limit visibility

So this approach wont work with a live Loft (I'm guessing) but will work with a plane or a Loft turned into geo:

- Create your plane or surface
- Select all points in point mode and use the command "Create Cluster" (you can do Shift + C to find faster)

(This will create a cluster deformer and ...

Re: Infinite Rig / Infinite Floor or Ocean + limit visibility

I know you can't share your build but can you show a screenshot of the object hierarchy to help explain the set up? Here or PM?

Or actually the main issue is projecting the HOT4D fractal in world space - how is that achieved as it isn't a setting that's openly available within the settings tabs for ...

Re: Infinite Rig / Infinite Floor or Ocean + limit visibility

How are the splines connected to the camera?

I don't understand how you can be moving the splines whilst the loft is static without using xpresso?

Splines are children of the loft to create geo, does that mean your Camera is also under the loft?
