xparticles
I know this is probably a forlorn hope - but is there any way the current (or future versions of Octane) will be capable of rendering XParticles from XP4 in R19 using the Octane tag? I can see them if I employ the XP generator but it has its obvious limitations. I've been long time ill and ...

Just bought a sub to R.25 - what a slow, buggy pile of whatever compared to my copy of R19 - but anyway....
1) Scene in R25 (2020.2.5) takes 3 mins 17 seconds to load before it starts rendering in the live viewer. Same scene R19 (2020.2.3) 31 seconds.
2) If you save your scene while rendering in ...

Re: How to create ashes?
Quixel Megascans has a mother-load of scanned ash atlases. All include displacement maps so you won't need to model anything.

Node Editor crashing 2020.2.3
Every time I type into the search field in the node editor - Octane crashes. I'm running a PC Windows 10, C4D R19.

Quixel Bridge
I've just upgraded from my old permanent 4.05 licence to a studio subscription. 2019.1.5 Octane crashes C4D AND Quixel Bridge every time I export an asset from one to the other. Just to double check, I de-installed 2019.1.5 it and re-installed 4.05 and it works perfectly so I'm assuming it's an ...

Re: Proximity ghosting
Sorry to return to this again - but now I've progressed the model a little further I'm doubting the gradient effect is naturally occurring again!. So I spent some time searching reference images and none of them demonstrate this effect at all. Here's my model side by side with one of the photos ...

Re: Proximity ghosting
You're right! I rendered the same scene in VRay (should've thought of that before) and it's exactly the same.
Apologies for doubting you but it is a strange phenomenon.
Thanks!

Re: Proximity ghosting
Here's a sample scene - a sphere with a torus around it. As you will see from the accompanying image the sphere is darker from midway downwards with the torus but renders normally without it.
My image is rendered with an HDRI but as you can see from the C4D file attached the same thing happens ...

Re: Proximity ghosting
Maybe this image demonstrates my problem better. As you can see, the sun is casting a physically correct shadow onto the sphere but there's also a long gradient being cast on the tank
- this can't be correct surely? My modelling is to real world scale BTW

Proximity ghosting
Hi - I'm getting a strange occlusion or dark ghosting effect on a model I'm working on. If I place a torus, or any shape, close to the main tank model sphere it casts a strange shadow and a gradient down the sphere. See pic.
