Really slow network rendering update
Currrently rendering a scene with 400 megs of textures and the file weighting around 110 megs
time per frame in a single 4 gpu computer is around 29 secs
time per frame with 3 nodes ( 4 GPU per node) 20 seconds
it takes almost 70% of the rendering time in the master machine to update the rest of ...

HDR textures in Lights
Hi, I came across this HDR studio light set
https://www.pingo.nu/vfxtools/
tried to use it but I cant get it to work.
if the image is mapped to a plane with a texture emission node the whole plane emits light
when mapped to alight I get a full square as well, I was able to get somewhat proper ...

Particles not showing in picture viewer. Scene file attached
Hi!
I am using the standard C4d Emitter to emit streaks with texture emission.
it renders ok in the live viewer, but in the picture viewer either I have no particles at all or only a small amount.
Is the first time that I attempt to use particles with octane, so I am a noob at it.
All help would ...

Re: How to use Megascans
you could use it as a bump map. I found many uses for it.bertritude wrote:Hi,
cavity is the same as bump map ?
for masking too

Re: How to use Megascans
Hi,
to create a material from megascan materials sets, you have to create nodes like the picture enclosed. limit the displacement parameter to less of 10 to be realistic.
You can also multiply AO and cavity with the diffuse map to compensate for the Ambient occlusion lost as the displacement ...

Re: 3x TITAN Maxwell Vs 4x GTX 1080
Yeah, it is interesting, I am definetkly getting some performance increase,
But I assumed that now as is one extra card and they suppose to be much faster the performance will be much better.
thanks for the post, I ll keep an eye on it
