About LiveDB, latest OctaneX versions are distributed as free Prime version, to speed up the development, so LiveDB is not availble.
If you are already in macOS 13 Ventura, you need to wait for the upcoming stable version.

Also the little icon seems greyed out

As said above ^^ about X-Particles :

With this version 2.24.1 the only way to see X-Particles in Live Viewer is to put a generator in X-Particles.
Example: you create an X-Particles setup, and asign an Octane material to the emitter. In version 2.24.0 it worked, particles were rendered by Octane ...
