Re: Another Mac Pro user is looking for a (direct) GPU-Cluster
To add to this conversation, as of now, there is no Mac driver for Pascal series cards and there doesn't seem to be one in development either. You will be stuck with 900 series cards or older if you stay with the Mac.

Re: Another Mac Pro user is looking for a (direct) GPU-Cluster
I don't have any experience with the Nestor, and I don't know if it will work successfully or not.
Another thing to keep in mind is the heat generated by the GPU's when rendering. With the Amfeltec, you could always put a fan in front of the cluster to keep the temps reasonable. In the Nestor, the ...

Re: Another Mac Pro user is looking for a (direct) GPU-Cluster
I had an Amfeltec chassis and used it with Mac Pro for about a year or so. It worked well, though there was a slight delay in sending large amounts of data over the 1x connection to the chassis. I ended up selling it and building a PC for rendering. It was much easier to manage and use with the ...

Re: HELP Amfeltec + Mac Pro (mid 2012) 5,1
As long as you are running the most up-to-date Nvidia web driver, the Mac doesn't care. You only really need the flashed cards if you are running them with a display and want to use OS X boot options or see the OS X boot screens.
I don't know if the flashed cards are an issue, but you definitely ...

Re: HELP Amfeltec + Mac Pro (mid 2012) 5,1
The main GPU should be in slot 1. The cluster can be in any other slot but slot 1.
You are sure that you have all cables connected correctly (should be two cables for the Amfeltec) and adequate power supplied to the external cards?
Each GPU should show up as a separate card.
Have you tested the ...

Re: HELP Amfeltec + Mac Pro (mid 2012) 5,1
Have you tried just one card in the cluster and one in the Mac?
You are running the most current Nvidia web driver, NOT the OS X driver, correct?
What size power supply do you have powering the Amfeltec?
The card should show up as a Titan X in the System Profile if it's installed correctly.

Re: External PCIe Expansion options
Thanks PixelRocket!
All good info.. and good to her the netstor has a faster connection. I had one question though... you said you have to run reference cards in the netstor..?
Could you expand on that a little?
If you look at the Nestor chassis, http://www.netstor.com.tw/_03/03_02.php?MTEx ...

Re: External PCIe Expansion options
I thought I might add to this since I am currently running a Mac Pro 5,1 and using Octane with Cinema 4D. My current GFX card setup consists of a GTX 680, and two GTX 980 ti cards using a Amfeltec GPU Cluster http://amfeltec.com/products/gpu-oriented-cluster/ . While the cluster works great, the ...

Re: Network render times...
Ok, I rendered the same file to the picture viewer with 8 bit render buffer.
First render time is without network rendering, second render time is with network rendering.
