Difference is from x-particles. Octane is doing fine work.

Re: X-Particles 3.5 Skinner Problem
If you pay close attention, you'll also see that the particles are in different locations. At least they were on my screen. The only variable that really adds this level off weirdness is probably the xpdomain, because it's fluid and has a certain amount of randomness in it.

Re: Missing Volume Step Count option
I believe Volume Step Count is the same as Volume Step Length, which can be found under the volume medium.
Set Voxel size to your tfd voxel size (or sometimes a bit less, helps in some cases) and tune your step count accordingly.

I'm thinking it's something to do with your mapping and tone mapping things.
Can you post an image of your render settings (Ctrl/CMD+B) and camera imager settings?

Hey,
so .. here's what I got:

Sort of works.. but.. a few issues.
First though, the how I did it:
When you read an image file as Normal, it doesn't access the alpha information.

Re: Exclude Object from Global Illumination?
Can try adding a octane object tag and unticking Shadow Visibility?
The question itself is rather unclear, you could clarify it with some screenshots.
edit:
It's not perfect because you don't really have that much control over what the renderer uses and doesn't use for what it does because that's ...

Re: Milk Material
Hello,
why are you using just a diffuse material? I think mixing it in with a a glossy material or maybe even just a specular material will serve you a lot better.

Re: Gamma 2.2 problems
Metal, much like glass, is all about the lighting and you can make the same piece of metal look completely different by moving a single light.
On your surface i can see that there's a light on the other side of the object (Camera -> object -> light), which you can see in the reflection.

Hello friend.
You're posting screenshots of IPR, which is fine. But I'm not really getting what you're saying.
There are a few things that I spotted in your render settings which I would change right off the bat without knowing anything about your scene.
Drop your GI clamp to like 10. The 1 million ...
