Hmm no because when just the figure is there with loaded maps, with SSS and all, but the armor doesn't have maps loaded yet it's ok then. When I load the mats to the armor thats when the ground plane becomes visible. Armor has 2 types of mats glossy, and diffuse emissive mats.

The problem is that it doesnt happen with a simple sphere... :/

ShadowCatcherError_NoMats.png[/attachment]Im trying to have my character in the scene with HDR lighting and i wanted to use the ground as a shadow catcher. Otherwise it looks kinda silly without shadows. So the entire ground plane is visible as a shaadow, whereas it should be invisible. And it works ...

As I switch to the HDR backdrop and switch the ground plane to a diffuse material and check the shadow catcher checkbox. The entire ground plane is showing its "shadow"? once I apply the materials to the character... before applying materials its all fine and the ground plane acts like it should, be ...

Hmmm this is clearly an error, renderer shouldnt work like this it should ignore clipping... I was hoping for some response, but don't trample over each other to respond...

Why does this happen? Skin clipping red glow...
Every time skin clips into itself theres this red glow... I'm guessing its because of subsurface scattering, and displacement map... But it didnt happen on other renderers... wth? I cant pose my models in any artistic way with any artistic contrasty lights setup, without getting this effect... :/

I have no idea how you figured that out, but thank you! This is what i was trying to render! :P
Actually, it was not with volumetric, but with scatter (7 years ago and volumetric did not exist in octane at that time).
Had to look up how i did it and this is the material I used for the box ...

I'm gonna have to test that... You set up the diffuse as volumetric?
