Octane VDB and Octane Fog Volume Conflicting in Render

Hello,

I'm having an issue with using an Open VDB and also a Octane fog volume. With both in the scene as you will see attached, the fog volume cancels out the smoke plume VDB. I know this is how the system is supposed to work but is there a work around so that I can see both my fog volume and the ...

Ambient Occlusion AOV Pass Renders Black

Hello,

I have never had this issue before, but after rendering out my AO AOV Pass, when I open it in AE it's all black. I have seen people run into this before and I made sure to turn off the C4D save options in the render settings. I'm only using the Octane output module. I have also made sure to ...

Trail object only rendering one color in Octane

I am working on a project where there are trails being produced from an xp emitter. I want to shade the trails with a gradient hair texture, but after a few videos I found out you can not do that. So I created a glossy material with noise + colorizer to try to get the same effect. The only problem ...

Re: Recreating this material

I will definitely try that. The image I attached does have a fractal noise applied to it from after effects. I did use the block fractal noise as you suggested. But I did not invert it. I have never used the highlight compression. Since it is a float value I am guessing a little goes a long way?

Re: Recreating this material

Awesome! I am glad you like it. I am interested to see what you have in mind for the specular map. Here is another image you may like it is the same object in a cloth material. I too am excited by this.

Re: Recreating this material

Hey Bud I wanted you to check this out and see what you think. Your critique is welcome. So I found out that silver wing has done some work for Axisponza which is the company that did the image I attached before. So I found C4DAPT2 and Raphal Rau had a two hour session on how he creates the ...

Re: Recreating this material

It all seems so obvious now. Thanks a lot man, when I have something worthy I will post it here to see what you think. Where did you find the second image, I have seen somewhere as a promotion for a octane training course. I would like to find that course and watch it to increase my Octane skills ...

Re: Recreating this material

Thanks for the insight. You say that the objects design patterns are similar to silver wing designs? I will keep working on it to see what I can come up with.

Thanks again

Recreating this material

I could really use some help or ideas on how to recreate the texture in the image attached. I am guessing that the geometric patterns are in a displacement channel, but when I try this the pattern indents too much into the geometry and does not look like it is a part of the surface texture like in ...
