Any way to change GPU processing priority?
I'm used to lowering a renderer's CPU priority when I need to do other tasks at the same time.
Is there any way to do the same for Octane? It would be fine if I could at least browse the internet while rendering, but the browser window updates so slowly that it's almost impossible.

I don't think this was meant as a speed comparison. I doubt you'd need 16 bounces and 16,000 samples to get a noise-free image.
Regarding image quality, I prefer the VRay image because it's sharper and appears to have more detail. I don't think we can control the AA filter Octane uses, so that's ...

The machine has now rendered for 24 hours non-stop without any problems. The plugin works perfectly, thanks again!

The frames appear to finish correctly, however the plugin does not seem to advance the timeline. It just renders the first frame of the animation over and over.
